“Awkward Family Portraits distil wicked musical moonshine from rockabilly, bluegrass, vaudeville and Western swing influences” – Celtic Connections 2020

 

Founded by Roo and lead singer, Julen Santamaria, ‘Awkward Family Portraits’ is a collaboration of lifelong friends in the west of Glasgow. United by their shared love of old Americana music, they have two albums and an EP under their belt and have toured across the UK, Netherlands, Spain and Hungary. They write in both English and Spanish and work closely with a range of artists across Scotland including filmmakers ‘Odd Socks Productions’ and painter ‘Angus Fernie’. The band are currently in the midst of developing their 3rd studio album.
